6 dead, including baby after dust-storm causes 25-car pileup


Six people have died, including a 9-month-old baby, after a dust storm caused a 25-car pile-up Monday night.

New Mexico State police say the crash occurred Monday around 5:15 p.m. on I-10 just outside Lordsburg.

Officials say the crash happened after dusty conditions blew into the area restricting the visibility to drivers.

The vehicles involved included commercial motor and passengers vehicles and motorcycles.

The victims have been identified as Jose Manuel Celemente, 77, and Maurella Celente Munoz, 38, both of El Paso, Texas. Jose Elias Caraveo-Serrano, 30, Susuna Carevo, 29, and 9-month-old Julissa Careva all of Phoenix, Arizona and Josefina Silva, 47, of Escondido, California.

Police say there were numerous other injuries treated on the scene and others were transported to a nearby hospital.

The interstate is back open in both directions.

The crash remains under investigation.
