Accused drunken driver with child in car slams into police squad car

An accused drunken driver, with his 4-year-old son in the car, slammed into an Oak Creek police squad car early Sunday.

Police received a report of a wrong-way driver on Ryan Road. They arrived to see him slam into a car and then knock down a light pole on the median, but he wasn’t done yet.

Moments later, the man drove through the intersection at 13th Street and ran into the other squad car, police said.

As officers got him out of the car, they found he had a loaded handgun and another handgun in the car. No one was seriously hurt.

On the dashcam video, you can hear the driver tell the officer that he was sorry.

“I didn’t mean to,” the driver told officers.

The driver is expected to face a number of felony charges including hit-and-run and child endangerment.

The driver isn’t being identified yet. A police report indicates his blood alcohol level was 0.21, nearly three times the legal limit.
