A sheriff’s deputy with the DWI unit was hospitalized Saturday night after a suspected drunk driver plowed into him during a traffic stop in Crosby.
The deputy stopped a car on FM 2100 and was walking back to his cruiser around 10 p.m. when an apparently intoxicated driver crashed into the lawman’s vehicle.
The cruiser was pushed into the deputy, who fell to the ground injured. Afterward, he was taken by LifeFlight to the hospital.
“He’s apparently in stable condition,” Sgt. Cedrick Collier told reporters at the scene. “He’ll be held overnight for precautionary reasons.
The driver who sparked the wreck is in custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, Collier said.
