Beth Chapman has cancer.
“Dog the Bounty Hunter” star Beth, who has been married to Duane “Dog” Chapman for 11 years confessed that she has stage 2 throat cancer, Us Weekly reported. In a letter addressed to her friends, the reality star shared how she was diagnosed.
“I’ve been dealt my share of unexpected blows over the course of my almost fifty years but nothing as serious as the one I heard from my doctors two weeks ago when they uttered those dreaded three words, ‘You have cancer,'” Chapman wrote.
“After months of a nagging cough, a routine checkup resulted in a diagnosis of stage II throat cancer. I have what is referred to as a T2 Tumor in my throat that is blocking my breathing. My doctors are suggesting immediate treatment and surgery before the disease progresses,” she continued.
Despite her illness, Chapman remains positive. According to her, she will not let cancer beat her. She already knows her diagnosis but not her prognosis. She added that if all goes well, the doctors will be able to get the tumor.
Mona Wood-Sword, the family’s spokesperson told Hawaii News Now that Chapman is already prepping for her emergency surgery this weekend. She added that “it’s a very scary time for them and their family they are being strong, praying, and following doctor’s orders.” Also, there was a time when Chapman’s husband was inconsolable, but he is trying to stay positive for his wife.
Prior to Chapman’s cancer diagnosis, In Touch Weekly noticed her major weight loss. The publication noted that Chapman looked different in her slimmer frame. Chapman is the president of the National Bail Bonds Associations. She and her husband work as lobbyists for the bail bond industry.
After the couple’s “Dog the Bounty Hunter” TV show that ran from 2004 to 2012 on A&E Network, they had a spin-off show titled “Dog and Beth on the Hunt” which aired on CMT from 2013 to 2015.
“Our industry is under attack,” Chapman told the publication. “There are bail reform movements springing up across the country that would end the cash bail systems. This would be a disaster.”
