We knew Myron Rolle was smart. We knew he had the drive to be successful in life. A Rhodes Scholar at Oxford in England, Rolle gave up his NFL career to pursue a career in medicine.

Earlier this year, the former Florida State standout accepted a neurosurgery residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

Now, he’s literally a doctor. On Saturday, Rolle earned his doctorate at Florida State. Here’s his Instagram post announcing the amazing accomplishment.

Rolle, a first-team All American for the Seminoles in 2006, was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He would have likely been an early-round pick if teams weren’t concerned about his passion to play football.

He did not play a single game in the NFL and was picked up by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2012 on a reserves contract, only to announce his retirement a short while later.

Major props to Rolle for this accomplishment.
