A retired West Allis law enforcement officer has been charged with shooting an Amtrak conductor in Naperville, Illinois, on Tuesday.
Edward Klein, 79, was charged with discharge of a firearm causing great bodily harm and attempted murder.
Prosecutors said Klein tried to get off the train after the train doors closed. When Amtrak personnel stopped him, Klein got mad, pulled out a revolver, stuck his arm out a window of the train door and shot the conductor in the abdomen, who was on the platform,
The conductor, 45, was seriously injured.
Bond for Klein was set at $1.5 million.
Klein is scheduled to be back on court June 12.
