A police chase that began before noon in Houston ended on Texas 73, south of Beaumont, Thursday afternoon, local television stations report.
The chase kicked off at about 11:40 a.m. in the 1600 block of Post Oak, said John Cannon, spokesman for the Houston Police Department.
Police initially trailed the vehicle because it was believed to be stolen.
The driver of the vehicle took off, speeding in excess of 100 miles per hour eastbound on Interstate 10, Cannon said.
At some point, the driver veered off of I-10 onto Texas 73, local television stations report.
By 1 p.m., the driver had gotten out of his or her car and was believed to be hiding in the brush off of the highway, according to local television stations.
Beaumont police were still looking for the driver Thursday afternoon.
