Lines Ballet founder and Artistic Director Alonzo King is known for his partnerships with diverse artists and musicians the world over, and for the eclectic, powerful pieces that result from these relationships. One such collaboration, “The Propelled Heart,” premiered in 2015 to sold-out audiences.
This week, Lines Ballet presents the return of “The Propelled Heart” in honor of the company’s 35th anniversary.
The show, which runs through Sunday, Nov. 19, conveys King’s contemporary take on choreography with the soulful vocals of Grammy Award-winning artist Lisa Fischer. Fischer — who has performed alongside the likes of Tina Turner, Mick Jagger and Beyoncé — accompanies the dancers at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater as they “pay tribute to the power of song.”
Audiences are invited to join King and Fischer for a question-and-answer session following the performance on Thursday, Nov. 16.
