Rocko the dog crosses graduation off his bucket list – 3TV

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

Rocko, the 8-year-old Maricopa County shelter dog with cancer, continued checking things off his “Bucket List” this past weekend after a celebration for him at Bright Horizons school in Chandler.

While the 8-year-old’s cancer is incurable, the love for Rocko is endless, as shelter workers and volunteers continue to set up events that will celebrate the dog and allow him to enjoy his final weeks with a little extra wag in his tail.

One fifth-grader named Katelyn at Bright Horizons even wrote Rocko a poem describing his bravery and his recent popularity throughout the Valley.

Rocko also attended a brunch at O.H.S.O., a brewery in Arcadia, in which the staff closed off the entire patio just for Rocco and his tennis-ball-bearing guests. Valentines supplies littered the tables as guests wrote some Valentine’s Day wishes for Rocko.

On Monday morning, Rocko attended his graduation at Chandler-Gilbert Community College where he accepted his honorary degree: AGEC — A Generally Educated Canine Degree.

Next on his list is Sloan Park, spring training home to the World Series champion Chicago Cubs. Rocko will run the bases on Jan. 30 to celebrate his recent accolades.

The Maricopa County animal shelter is still looking for items to add to Rocko’s bucket list and people are encouraged to contact the staff with any ideas.
