One of the great local traditions for lovers of chamber music is the Morrison Artists Series at San Francisco State University, which for decades has provided Bay Area audiences with appearances by the world’s finest chamber ensembles, absolutely free.
And for nearly as long — going all the way back to 1989 — the Alexander String Quartet has anchored the series.
The new season is upon us, and once again the Alexanders will inaugurate the season, this time with a recital featuring a new work by the London-born composer Tarik O’Regan. Quartets by Mozart and Shostakovich fill out the program.
