Strand’s secret plan will be revealed in the two-episode Season 3 finale of “Fear the Walking Dead.”
According to the synopsis for the season ender of the AMC series, Strand’s (Colman Domingo) motives are made clear when Nick (Frank Dillane) discovers a new threat descending on the dam.
In Season 3 episode 14, Strand tried to enter a locked area somewhere in El Bazar. His plan, however, was thwarted by the arrival of a group of men he met during his first stint in the trading post. Strand told them that he wants to talk to Proctor John. The men initially refused to take him to the proctor, but when Strand said that he’s got something the proctor wants, the men apparently had a change of heart.
While the deal between Strand and Proctor John is yet to be revealed, it’s possible that Strand has asked the proctor’s help to take over the dam.
As seen in the trailer for the season finale, Nick and Troy (Daniel Sharman) seem to have discovered Strand’s supposed plan, prompting the pair to head straight to the dam to warn Madison (Kim Dickens).
While it’s unclear whether Strand really enlists Proctor John’s help to get control of the dam, executive producer Dave Erickson teased to Entertainment Weekly that the season finale includes unexpected reversals. “We’re going to see some acts of violence and some confrontations that have been a long time coming,” Erickson teased of the season-ender. “And we’re going some very bloody and explosive reversals that I don’t think anyone’s going to see coming.”
Elsewhere in season finale, Daniel (Rubén Blades) tries to find out the truth about what happened at Broke Jaw Ranch and how his daughter Ofelia (Mercedes Mason) ended up being bitten by an infected.
In a sneak peek from the finale, Daniel asks Nick if he’s with Ofelia when she was bitten. When Nick says no, Daniel is surprised because he thought everyone was trapped in a bunker.
“I was outside trying to stop the horde,” Nick explains.
“You were outside? So you saw it coming?” Daniel asks.
“Not until it’s too late,” Nick replies. “It just came from somewhere out in the wilderness, and Troy saw it. Then he came. He warned me. We thought maybe we could redirect it but by that point it was just too close and too big. But Ofelia was in the bunker with Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey). She saved Alicia’s life.”
When Daniel feels that Nick is not being completely honest about how the horde got into the ranch, the former Sombra Negra member walks into the door and closes it from the inside. Is Daniel planning to do something bad to Nick just to know the truth?
